Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program & COPD Education Clinic

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a progressive exercise program for respiratory clients who have decreased exercise tolerances and endurance due to a progression of their Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The program involves a series of education and exercise sessions to assist clients to acknowledge, accept and manage their condition and encourages them to continue to exercise in a community or home based program.

The goal of the program is to assist clients in leading an active lifestyle. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program includes an initial assessment with a COPD Educator and a Physiotherapist as well as a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPX) prior to commencing the program. The program is nine weeks in length and consists of two sessions per week each lasting 2.5 hours.

Physician referral and a referral to a Respirologist are required for this program.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Education Clinic

The COPD Education Clinics offered at all three of our hospitals provide support and education for individuals living with COPD. The goals of this clinic are to help individuals manage their condition as well as providing coping strategies aimed at improving quality of life. The clinic provides individual outpatient appointments.

A physician referral is required.
