Family Presence Policy

Family members and partners in care are welcome to visit based on the patient's preferences, wishes and their safety. Family members and partners in care should be identified by the patient.

Quiet Time has been designated daily, from the hours of 10:00 pm until 7:00 am, to promote a restful environment for our patients. We will work with patients and family members to accommodate overnight stay requests where possible.

Pet Visitation

All pet visits must be pre-arranged and are limited to dogs.

These visits are permitted for:

  • Complex Continuing Care or Rehab patients who have a prolonged hospital stay
  • Patients requesting a visit for compassionate reasons such as palliative care

All pet visits must be pre-arranged with the patient's recreational therapist, clinical resource nurse or nursing staff. Appropriate paperwork must be completed prior to the visit.

Pets from registered agencies such as the Oakville Humane Society or St. John Ambulance Therapy have approval for scheduled visits to our hospitals as part of animal-assisted therapy and activities. These dogs are easily identifiable by the agency bandanas they wear.

Service animals, such as guide dogs, are welcomed at our hospitals.
