Preparing for Surgery
Preparing for surgery looks different during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are more precautions in place to keep patients and healthcare workers safe. Patients will be contacted by their surgeon’s office with surgical dates and preparation details.
If you have concerns, including new or worsening symptoms, please reach out to your physician or other members of your health care team directly. If you are in need of emergency care, please call 911 or go to your closest Emergency Department. Our hospitals are safe and our Emergency Departments are open 24/7 to care for you in the event of an urgent, life-threatening illness or injury.
Parking & Entrances
We have restricted the number of entrances that are open at our hospitals. If you are coming for surgery, please follow the listed parking options:
OTMH – park in the parking garage (Lot#6) and enter the hospital through the entrance off Level 2 of the garage
MDH – park in Lot #1 and enter through the Main Entrance
GH – park in the main parking lot and enter through the Main Entrance or the South entrance.
Screening and Masking
Everyone who comes to our hospital is screened, asked to wear a mask. And clean their hands. A visitor or support person who fails the screening test will be refused entry. Scheduled surgeries and procedures may be cancelled for a patient with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
We are currently restricting visitors – if you are not a designated visitor, please contact the care team. If you are coming for surgery, we continue to accommodate patients being accompanied by one support person where necessary. Due to physical distancing measures in waiting rooms, some support people may be asked to wait in their vehicles, those who are able to stay will be asked to remain in the designated waiting room until the patient is discharged.
