Denise Hardenne, Secretary
An accomplished veteran health executive, Denise Hardenne has held progressively more senior roles at Halton Healthcare for almost two decades, culminating in her current position as President and Chief Executive Officer.
Previously, she served in several senior capacities in the Saskatchewan health system. For over 20 years, Denise has been a surveyor with Accreditation Canada since 1998, helping peer organizations enhance their performance and effectiveness; she was also a consultant to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, advising on hospital operations.
During her tenure at Halton Healthcare, Denise has overseen the organization’s growth to over 6,500 staff, physicians and volunteers, receiving approximately a half billion dollars in annual funding and its transformation, becoming an organization with a strong focus on delivering exemplary patient experiences, always.
Denise has also delivered three major capital projects with a total value of $3.36 billion at Halton Healthcare, including the new 1.6 million square foot Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the modernized Georgetown Hospital and the expanded Milton District Hospital. Her expertise in planning and operational readiness has ensured not only on-time and on-budget delivery of these projects but also the smooth opening of the new facilities.
Denise holds an MBA from Queen’s University and an MCED and BSN from the University of Saskatchewan. She has also been a Management for Chief Nursing Executives Fellow at the Wharton School of Business and completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials program at the Rotman School of Business. Denise has published and presented extensively on many aspects of hospital operations.
