Parking and Transportation

Patient and Visitor Parking:

Parking at Halton Healthcare is built on a “patients first” philosophy – patients and their families/visitors have the most convenient and timely access to the hospital, our programs and services.

Many parking options are available to accommodate patients during their stay in hospital. Halton Healthcare uses parking fees collected to cover the cost of providing, maintaining and administering the parking facilities, and to support operational costs related to patient care.

By the order of the Ontario Fire Code, vehicles parked in non designated areas may be ticketed by Municipal Parking Operations Services as they are designated Fire Routes.

Please abide all signage and ask staff or security for clarification.

Georgetown Hospital:
Patients and visitors are permitted to park in any of the surface lots on the property.

Visitor parking is available in surface Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH):
Patients and visitors are able to park in surface parking lots 1, 2, 3 and 5 and in the parking garage.  Patients attending the Medical Office Building can also park in lot 7. For your convenience, you can access the hospital through enclosed walkways from levels 1 and 2 in the parking garage.  Please follow the parking payment instructions posted in the parking lots.

At OTMH, emergency duress alarm stations are located throughout the parking lots, along walkways, and on all levels of the garage.  The stations are equipped with a two-way voice system, as well as strobe lights and sirens.

Self-serve "Pay and Display": If you would like close access to the hospital and know the duration of your stay, for example you know you’ll be visiting for two hours, the ‘Pay and Display’ options might work best for you.  The self-serve machines are available on the east side of the hospital. Simply pay for your parking in advance and display your receipt on your dashboard (all major credit cards accepted or exact change – loonies, toonies, quarters).

Parking Rates:

  • Parking rates are available on pay parking machines, in the main lobby (parking cashier/front desk) at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) or the admitting cashier at Milton District Hospital (MDH) and Georgetown Hospital (GH)
  • Parking patrons are asked to bring their parking ticket into the hospital with them. Parking fees may be paid inside the hospital at one of the pay stations with cash or credit cards. Note: Payment can also be made at the exit gate with a credit card at all three Halton Healthcare Hospitals.

Accessible and Hybrid/Electrical Vehicle Spaces:

Accessible parking spaces are available at all three hospitals which require an Ontario Ministry of Transportation specific permit and must be visible.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital only: Designated spaces for persons with a disability, rehabilitation patients and patients coming to the Heart Function Clinic at OTMH are identified in the main surface lot and in the parking garage. There are also some designated spaces at MDH by the front doors and the Rehab entrance and at GH in the Visitor’s parking lot and the Emergency parking lot.

Hybrid/Electrical Vehicle Spaces (Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital only):  There are a significant number of hybrid / electric vehicle parking spaces located in the parking garage.  Levels 1 and 2 of the Parking Garage connect directly to the hospital via a covered walkway.  These walkways can be accessed from the upper levels of the parking garage by using either the stairs or elevators.


Milton District and Georgetown Hospitals: There are bicycle racks available out front of each hospital main entrance.

Oakille Trafalgar Memorial Hospital: There are a total of 147 bicycle spaces located across the property.  These spaces are located near principal entrances and major walkways and are for use by both public and staff

All bicycles should be locked up to prevent theft.  Halton Healthcare is not responsible for lost or stolen bicycles.

Bus Route/Transit:

Georgetown Hospital: Please visit Town of Halton Hills website for transit options when coming to the hospital.

Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital: The new hospital has been added to Oakville Transit’s Third Line Routes 3 and 5, with three bus stops on the hospital property at the east, west, and north entrances.  Please visit Oakville Transit’s website for the bus schedule.

Q & A

What is the daily rate and will it change?

The daily rate to park at any Halton Healthcare hospital will remain the same at $17.50 maximum per day ($3.50 per half hour). Patients and families can purchase a specialty day pass for $23.25 to allow for multiple entries and exits on the day the pass is purchased.

What are the parking options available to accommodate patients and their families?

Patients and families can pay for the time spent at the hospital using the daily rate or purchase the following passes that allow them to enter and exit the parking lots multiple times on each day: a day pass, a weekly pass, a monthly pass, or a 5, 10, 30 or 100 day value pass.

What is a value pass?

A value pass provides patients and caregivers with discounted rates that translate to savings between 50% and 85% per day off the regular daily rate. For example, a patient or caregiver purchasing a 100-day value pass will now pay $2.25 a day for unlimited access to the hospital. All value passes have extended expiration dates providing increased flexibility and versatility for patients and their families.

Can the passes be shared?

Yes. Passes will be transferable provided that only one vehicle accesses the hospital at any given time.
Where can the value passes be purchased?

  • consecutive day passes (daily, weekly, monthly) can be purchased at the parking payment machines
  • value passes - non-consecutive (periodic or irregular visits) for 5, 10, 30 and 100 days can be purchased at the parking cashier at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) or admitting cashier at Milton District Hospital (MDH) and Georgetown Hospital (GH).  Please note: At this time, value passes purchased at OTMH can be used only at OTMH and those purchased at MDH and GH can be used interchangeably at these two hospitals.

What factors go into establishing the parking rates?

Parking rates were established after consulting with other local hospitals, reviewing the Ministry’s directive on parking rates, factoring in operational costs (both hospital and maintenance of parking lots/garages) and analysis of usage rates.

How does Halton Healthcare use the fees collected through parking at all three hospitals?

Parking fees collected are used to cover the cost of providing, maintaining and administering the parking facilities, and to support operational costs related to patient care.
